Wind Creek Casino & Hotel Expansion
Montgomery, Alabama

Project Owner: PCI Gaming
Marty Peck, Creative Lighting Design & Engineering
System Integrator: Tripp Oliver, MainStage

MainStage provided the award winning control system design, equipment, integration, installation and programming for the expansion of this existing gaming, hotel, and restaurant facility in Montgomery, Alabama.

The sophisticated control system is integrated with all the architectural dimming systems in the venue, giving the property the flexibility to manually choose from the various lighting shows, or run automated.

·         Control of all public area lighting on the property, including both traditional downlights and specialty LED lighting, is handled by an ETC Paradigm control system.

·         The specialty LED portion is controlled with an ETC MSC100, an ETC MSC70, and a Pharos LPC60, with a combined channel count of 230 DMX Universes.

·         General lighting is controlled via 4 – ETC SR3 dimmer racks and 2 – ETC DRd dimmer racks. DMX distribution is run via a combination of ETC Net3 Gateways and Pathway Connectivity OCTO Nodes.

This complex system allows for a number of varying themed ‘shows’, including random shooting stars that run through the Flex LMX gen2, and synchronized audio/lighting shows to suggest a festive environment, all triggered when a patron hits a jackpot.

One of the more stunning features of the casino lighting design is the dynamic ceiling, where the custom Flex LMX gen2 strings are installed in a gorgeous swirling pattern that beautifully evokes Van Gogh's Starry Night painting. A full arsenal of Color Kinetics products, including the ColorBurst, QLX, Cove MX and Graze MX, were deployed to create exciting lighting features.

Also integrated into the lighting are 16 – ETC Source Four LED Lustr2 fixtures and 50 owner-provided Traxon 64PXL tiles and shield AC fixtures.

The exterior is lit in the property’s signature blue by Lumenpulse LBL fixtures.

This project recently won the 2016 IES Award of Excellence - Illumination Award for Lighting Control Innovation recognizing designers Marty Peck and Michelle Klein of Creative Lighting Design and Engineering and Tripp Oliver of MainStage.

MainStage is a Certified Value Added Partner (CVAP) for Philips Lighting and a Million Dollar Dealer for Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC).
