Teatro del Lago - Frutillar, Chile

Mainstage was selected to supply the dimming, lighting, counterweight rigging, curtains and miscellaneous supplies for the southernmost Opera House in the world, Teatro del Lago. This facility is perched on the shore of Lake Llanquihue in the German heritage resort village of Frutillar Bajo. Picturesque views across the lake of the volcano Osorno can be seen through the rear wall of the Amphitheater performance area, which has been in use since 2005. Mainstage has equipped this space with a new ETC Sensor dimmer rack, ETC ION control, ETC fixtures and Clay Paky moving light fixtures.

The Opera House shell was constructed in 2005 but never completed or equipped. A new roof structure has been added to allow motorized and counterweight rigging. Mainstage installed a J.R. Clancy rigging system along with a sophisticated chain motor system by Applied Electronics for additional lighting positions and orchestra shell hoisting. The lighting system is comprised of four ETC Sensor dimmer racks, EOS console with remote back-up, ETC fixtures, Strong Super Trouper Followspots and Lex products cables.

Besides Mainstage, the Project Team included: Architect - Bernd Haller of Amercanda Architects of Santiago, Chile. Lighting Designer - Clifton Taylor of Design Curve, NY, NY. Rigging Consultant - Alfio Sambataro of Santiago, Chile.
